Elder Goodell, se va! Monday October 10, 2011

Hey, so it's the end of my first change! I survived!  My companion told me that me and him were both staying in Valpariso, but last night the zone leaders called and said I was leaving! Crazy! I just got all of my stuff unpacked! Packing is the worst!!  So I had to go say 'bye to all of my family here! I was so sad... and then even worse, I was in a loss of words to say to them other than 'bye!

So I found out today I'm going to Quilpuè!! It's in the interior and it is blazing hot!!! And I get to meet my new companion who is on his last change.  So I'm pretty dang nervous to leave this àrea, because it's all I know!
Okay... so funny fact about Chileans, they never use their doors or open their gates- they just pop open their windows and say "Digame." which means "tell me."  So I told my Zone leader that I liked regatone! which is the crazy Chilean rap stuff that's really distracting. He told me he hopes that will change by the end of my mission!
So, time has no meaning here... it seems like every time I sit down, I'm pickin up my journal and writing about a new day! Sometimes I think I can't tell if I already wrote! It's confusing. So my ward mission leader is the best in the mission! It's kinda weird- I started here in the best area just to leave so quick. Seriously, everyone says it's the best area!

Elder Antolini, the Latin I do interchanges with, has gotta be my best friend here and he speaks no English!   Oh, and I got a picture with Tom Cruise! ha Elder Matt Anderson from Spanish Fork!  So my ward mission leader, Gaston, gave me a book of slang Chilean words to look at! haha Slang here is so funny!! There's a couple words we're not aloud to say, that they only say in Chile-they have a different language. He always called me "Guatoncito"! which I found out just recently means "a short guy with a fat stomach." haha

So fasting is gotta be the hardest thing to do in Valpo! No water! And all I do is walk up one big hill.  So my last day in Valpo I set a fecha (date).  I committed someone to be baptized! buenabuena! He's from Sweden- Jorge Ugarte! I keep meeting people from Sweden! It's interesting!!
